You like me, you really like me

I'm leaving Berkeley in a couple of days, perhaps for ever. Although I'm entertaining the thought of moving back to the bay when I get back from China. Unless I get married, or kidnapped, or both. I suppose I'm ready to leave; I've had a good 4 and a half years in this place and I'll miss it even though my favorite semester was spent far, far away. Most of my friends and other random people I know have gone by now, but today I felt very loved. It was quite nice. Berekte at Hearst brought me some lunch for the last day that we worked together, and then Amiyah showed up for yoga class and surprised me with a cute little beanie that she knitted for me <3. I'm totally going to miss Hearst--all the lovely ladies I get to spend boring hours with, and all the regular swimmers who probably think I'm creepy because I know all their last names. But you know, we have good conversation and some good (though sometimes patronizing) laughs. I enjoy seeing them in the pool when I'm swimming and avoiding eye contact because I think it's weird seeing them in this environment, and laughing as I recite their last name to myself. Creepy.

I proceeded to figure out details for the little Surface-fun-people going-away-get-together (you like all those dashes don't you) that Michelle organized for tomorrow (with Lizzie too!). Then I took a very uncharacteristic nap and then met Powei at Royal Ground where he presented me with The House on Mango Street. I also talked to Pad, as always, who wondered if someone as mean as me deserved such kind gestures. Hmm. All in all a day of nice surprises. And then I came home and cleaned the bathroom.
